Double chin: Kybella

Dr. Mraz was an investigator in the research trial for Kybella, which was approved by the FDA in 2016. Kybella is a synthetic formulation of deoxycholic acid, a substance your body naturally produces to dissolve fat. When injected into the skin’s subcutaneous fat it destroys the membranes of the fat cells, permanently destroying them. Most patients need 2-4 treatments that are spaced 4-8 weeks apart.

Treatments are quick and relatively painless. After treatment, patients can experience swelling and or bruising in the area for 3-5 days following each treatment, so appointments should be made at least 2 weeks prior to any special events.
